I Use to think one thing during my schooling: job or business which is best?

Being blind taught me to trust myself and not let others’ doubts hold me back. I learned that strength is about finding solutions, not focusing on limitations.

Have you ever wondered, “Should I get a job or start my own business?” It’s a big question.

For some people, a steady job feels safe. For others, starting a business sounds exciting. Both have good sides and bad sides, and each person must choose what’s best for them.

I’ll share my story here, along with some examples of famous people who chose business over jobs.

My Journey: Solution for job vs business mindset

When I was in school, many people told me, “No one will give you a job because you’re blind.”  some teachers and my parents suggested  Me choose a job for safety. But deep down, I wanted to create something big.

I loved computers. I would spend hours playing with software, learning from Google, and making changes to programs.

One day, I thought, “If Bill Gates created Microsoft, why can’t I create something too?” This idea stayed with me and pushed me to try.

Today, I am Running three businesses:

1. 1. 1OnlyHost – a web hosting company
   2. Hydizo Global Solutions – a company in both India and the UK
   3. LeadTuts Digital Academy – a place where we teach IT and marketing skills

The path wasn’t easy. When I was 16, I started working as a freelancer. I didn’t even have an office, just my computer.

I worked from home and hid my blindness from my team and clients for two years so they would see my skills first.

I also tried to get a job when I was 18. Even though I knew Java, cyber security, and Python, people told me, “What could a blind person do?” That rejection hurt, but it also made me realize that if no one would give me a job, I’d create my own path.

Why I Chose Business Over a Job

Running a business means freedom for me. I get to create, work on my own ideas, and set my own goals. I like being my own boss and making my own decisions. No one is there to tell me what to do, and that feels amazing.

Let’s look at the main differences between a job or business which is best to help you see what might work for you.

Job vs. Business: A Simple Comparison

Here are some basic pros and cons of each.

1. Safety and Stability

• • Job: A job gives you a steady paycheck. You know what’s coming in every month, which makes it feel safe.
  • Business: Business is not always steady. Some months are great, and others are hard. But with a business, you have a chance to earn a lot more if things go well.

2. Control and Freedom

• • Job: In a job, you have to follow rules. Someone else is in charge, and you need to follow what they say.
  • Business: With a business, you make the rules. You are the boss. You can be as creative as you like. For me, this is the best part of business.

3. Risk Level

• • Job: Jobs are low-risk. You know what to do each day, and you get paid for it.
  • Business: Business is high-risk. You don’t always know what will happen. But the excitement and rewards can be worth it if you enjoy challenges.

4. Growth Potential

• • Job: With a job, there is a limit to how much you can grow and earn. You may have to wait for a promotion to earn more.
  • Business: In business, there is no limit. If your business grows, you can keep growing with it. The more effort you put in, the more you can achieve.

Learning from Famous Entrepreneurs

Many well-known people also chose business over a job crossing the job or business debate. Here are a few who inspire me:

• • Steve Jobs – Steve Jobs faced a lot of failure. He was even fired from Apple, the company he started! But he didn’t give up. He started two more companies, which led him back to Apple. He once said, “I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.” Jobs taught me to keep going, even when things are tough.
  • Walt Disney: “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
  • Elon Musk – Elon Musk faced many challenges, too. He nearly lost his companies, and people thought he was taking on too much. But Musk kept working hard. He once said, “When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.” His story showed me that with hard work, you can achieve amazing things.

These stories remind me that many people face struggles. But by pushing through, they create something wonderful.

Should You Choose a Job or Start a Business?

Deciding between a job and a business depends on who you are and what you want. Here’s some advice that helped me, and it might help you too:

1. 1. Listen to Others, But Trust Yourself
      It’s okay to listen to what people say, but remember, only you know what’s best for you. Sometimes, people doubted me, but I knew I wanted to build my own path.
   2. Think About Stability
      A job is a safe choice if you need steady income. It’s great if you prefer a consistent schedule. A business, on the other hand, may have ups and downs. You’ll need to be ready for that.
   3. Ask If You Can Handle Criticism
      In business, people will doubt you. You’ll need to stay strong and keep going, even if others criticize your ideas. If you’re okay with that, a business could be for you.
   4. Consider If You Like Leading
      Do you like to lead and make decisions? In a business, you must take charge. If you prefer guidance, a job may offer you more structure.

Final Thoughts: Which Path Is Best?

For me, business was the right choice. The freedom to create, the ability to set my own goals, and the joy of running my own companies make me happy. When people doubted me, I used that as fuel to push forward.

So, job or business which is best? The answer depends on what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. A job is a good choice if you want stability and routine. Business is the way to go if you enjoy risk, growth, and full control over your work.

Remember, no matter what path you choose, believe in yourself. Listen to advice, but follow your heart. You are stronger than you think, and you can create a future that makes you proud.
